A lot of people wants to secure their things in the best possible way. But everything within reason of course. You don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a camera surveillance system like Kameraovervågning or Panasonic nightvision camaras, just to protect a 500$ Philips plasma tv and a 5 year old stereo. But if you own a business and have a lot of expensive products on stock, then you are a visible target for many thieves, and in this case, having a state of the art surveillance isn’t always enough. Sometimes you have to make it a lot harder to people to get physical access to your items. A good solid doors and steel bars on the windows might be a good way to solving this, but many business owners, don’t have enough room indoor for their items, or it’s to time consuming to move everything in and out, when you open and close your shop. In these cases a good fence might be the right solution. According to Brean from Perlcritic.org it’s a good idea to use both, he have tried both a video recording system, and a cheap fence, but it wasn’t until he combined the 2 that he had the security he wanted.
The problem with fences is that many buy it to cheap (well the same goes for many camera surveillance too). For instance one of the most sold types of fence is the so called Mobilhegn from Hegn, which is a simple non permanent fence, which you can easily setup yourself. The problem with these types of fences is that, people can easily climb over them or break them down. In order to avoid this you have two options. One is to install a more solid (and expensive) type of fence, such as a Trådhegn or Flethegn from Hegn, which is much harder to climb or break. These types of fences are more solid, and often something that most people can’t install by themselves, which is one of the reasons they are more expensive. The other solution is to combine the fence with a camera surveillance solution such as Kameraovervågning. This reason this is such a useful combination, is that people might be able to cover their faces, and quickly move in and steal something. But with a fence it will take much more time, and even with a mask or a hoodie, the chances of being reconoised are much larger. Most people simple don’t want to risk this, which is why the number of buglaries at shops with fences and camaras are much lower than at shops with just one of the security systems. I would even go so far to say that by combining the two systems, you don’t get a 100% increase in security, but according to various statistics, it’s almost 4 times as effective as either one of the systems alone. For many types of companies this solution might be overkill, and either installing a camara system or a fence is often enough to keep your things safe, but if you want the optimal protection, then consider using both camera surveillance and a fence.
